What Is Futsal?

  • akin to soccer with a few differentiating factors
  • 5v5 including goalkeeper (we play 4v4)
  • unlimited substitutions on the fly
  • hard court surface
  • smaller surface area than a soccer pitch
  • very fast-paced game
  • no offsides
  • smaller, low bounce ball

5 key focus points

Ball Mastery

image11

  • with a low-bounce ball, close ball control is promoted
  • footwork is in constant play and is required at a much faster pace

Technique

image12

  • improvement of positioning and setting up plays without hesitation
  • with a hard court surface, players need not deal with divots in the ground and can focus on crisp passing and receiving

Speed

image13

  • a ball on the hard surface moves much more quickly, and in  turn makes the game incredibly fast = many more touches on the ball and  lots of running

Endurance

image14

  • there is a huge emphasis on physical fitness
  • the game is quick- players are constantly on the move, using the whole court

Creativity/Improvistation

image15

  • high demand for quick decision making
  • confined space requires players to think/react under pressure

Many professional soccer players attribute their success to what they have learned by playing futsal
